Hoi allemaal,
Woensdagavond 26 juni is de 4de kwartaalbijeenkomst van het Buddy Project. Deze keer hebben wij Shaquille Knight en Carlos Pak te gast.
* Shaquille Knight aka Dhk Caribeanbeast is 21 jaar oud, homoseksueel, demiseksueel en van Antilliaanse, Surinaamse, Jamaicaanse, Spaanse, Italiaanse en Nederlandse komaf. Hij is een vrijwilliger bij The Hang-Out 010, student, danser, dressuurruiter en een dancehall king.
Shaquille is de eigenaar/oprichter en Mother of the House Of Warriors (H.O.W.). Hij is ook eigenaar en oprichter van de WA GWAAN feesten en K&O (Knight and Olario) Horses.
* Carlos Pak aka Dominicandemon is 20 jaar oud, gay man en is van Dominicaanse en Nederlandse komaf. Carlos is een danser van de House Of Warriors en een dochter van Dhk Caribeanbeast.
Tijdens deze bijeenkomst gaan Shaquille en Carlos hun verhaal delen, hoe hun coming out was en hoe zij dit hebben ervaren binnen hun cultuur. Verder gaan we het hebben over het empoweren van jezelf, selflove, racisme, intersectionaliteit, talentontwikkeling en hoe de House of Warriors is ontstaan en waarom.
Uiteraard zal er ook de mogelijkheid zijn om vragen te stellen en eventueel de dialoog aan te gaan.
Het is belangrijk dat jullie je aanmelden, op tijd komen, blijven tot 22.00 uur en anderen respecteren (o.a. door naar elkaar te luisteren). We hebben namelijk veel bezoekers en dan is het juist nog belangrijker om rekening met elkaar te houden.
Als er bijzondere omstandigheden zijn dan kan je altijd contact met ons opnemen voor hulp vanuit Veilige Haven Utrecht, of om bijvoorbeeld aan te geven dat je niet op tijd kan komen of eerder weg moet gaan. Hopelijk tot volgende week donderdag.

Wednesday June 26 is the fourth meeting of the Buddy Project. This time we have Shaquille Knight and Carlos Pak as guests.
* Shaquille Knight aka Dhk Caribeanbeast is 21 years old, homosexual, demisexual and from Antillean, Surinamese, Jamaican, Spanish, Italian and Dutch descent. He is a volunteer of The Hang-Out 010, a student, dancer, dressage rider and a dancehall king.
Shaquille is the owner/founder and Mother of the House Of Warriors (H.O.W.). He is also the owner and founder of the WA GWAAN parties and K&O (Knight and Olario) Horses.
* Carlos Pak aka Dominicandemon is 20 years old, gay man and is from Dominican and Dutch descent. Carlos is a dancer of the House Of Warriors and a daugther of Dhk Caribeanbeast.
During this meeting, Shaquille and Carlos will share their story, what their coming out was and how they experienced this within their culture. We will also talk about empowering yourself, self-love, racism, intersectionality, talent development and how the House of Warriors arised and why they exist.
Of course, there will also be room for questions and to go into dialogue with each other.
It is important to sign up, to be there on time, to stay till 10 p.m. and to respect each other (for example by listening to each other). We have many visitors, so it is very important to take each other into consideration.
If there are special circumstances, you can always contact us for help from Veilige Haven Utrecht, or to indicate, for example, that you cannot arrive on time or must leave earlier. Hope to see you next Thursday.
